This half-day course is designed for leaders who oversee strategic initiatives, programs and projects. It explores how Agile principles can be applied to governance frameworks to reduce red tape, support faster decision-making, and enable greater value delivery across programs.
Throughout the session, you will explore how to shift from traditional, compliance-heavy models to more adaptive, transparent and efficient governance structures—without compromising accountability or risk. You will learn about tailoring governance approaches, clarifying roles, enabling timely decisions, and understanding how fostering psychological safety as a foundation for agility.
Through group discussions and interactive activities, you will reflect on your current practices and identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce duplication, and foster a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement. You will walk away with clear, practical strategies to modernise governance, improve project outcomes, and create space for innovation, transparency, and team autonomy.

Facilitator: Karen Engen (Nexcellence Consulting)
Karen is a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, qualified Trainer and Assessor, and experienced change and project manager across government, education, and private industry. Passionate about leading change with empathy and practical tools, her facilitation style is warm and engaging. Karen has worked across Australia and Canada, including project management at the Vancouver Olympics. Outside of work, Karen runs a singing group, plays guitar, and you might find her recharging at the beach or at live music event.
Karen will be in Canada for six months in late 2025 and will deliver limited training online during this time. She will be returning in 2026 to deliver more face-to-face training.
