Where does appropriate workplace behaviour end, and prohibited conduct begin?

This practical and highly interactive course supports staff at all levels to understand workplace expectations and responsibilities within the Tasmanian context.

You will join the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner to explore the Anti-Discrimination Act 1998 (Tas) and strengthen your toolkit for building respectful and inclusive workplaces.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify personal and organisational behaviours that fall “below-the-line”
  • Proactively prevent behavioural issues in your workplace, including constructive steps to take when the line is crossed
  • Define discrimination and explain how it can appear in different workplace contexts, and
  • Explain the role and functions of the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, as well as the purpose of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1998 (Tas).

Ange BainAnge Bain is a Training and Education Officer with the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, delivering practical, engaging training to corporate and government organisations across Tasmania.  With over 30 years of national experience in education and workforce development, Ange has worked across government, not-for-profit, and community services sectors. She specialises in making complex topics, such as Discrimination Law, workplace behaviour, and compliance, clear, relevant, and applicable to a range of environments. Passionate about inclusion and equity, Ange is committed to helping organisations create courteous, safe and diverse workplaces, where everyone can thrive.


Davan Ong

Davan Ong is a Community Engagement and Education Officer at the Office of the Anti‑Discrimination Commissioner. In this role, he delivers free community education to schools, nonprofits, clubs, volunteer networks, and community groups, as well as tailored fee‑for‑service training for government departments, and corporate organisations. Davan brings extensive experience from the humanitarian sector, along with a diverse background in hospitality, community services, and international trade. He is committed to building inclusive, informed, and respectful communities through meaningful engagement and practical education.
