A manager’s toolkit to burnout prevention

Taking a positive strengths-based approach to burnout prevention, this course will develop your understanding of what burnout is, how to identify it, what causes it and what you can do to reduce the risks in yourself and your team members.

Get an introduction into the psychosocial hazards in the workplace that can lead to burnout and the control measures and appropriate interventions that can be implemented to reduce the risks.

Learn about self and team member regulation, balancing the scales between job demands and job resources, and how to craft sustainable and meaningful work for yourself and your team members.

On completion of this course, you will walk away with an increased self-awareness and practical tools for developing a psychosocially safe work environment that prevents burnout and fosters a positive and sustainable team.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • understand and identify the signs of burnout
  • confidently self-regulate, with a bank balance of resilience whilst supporting team members to do the same
  • support team members to balance job demands and support resources
  • lean into leadership styles and strengths to maximise team member psychological safety, wellbeing, energy and engagement
  • actively design your teams workload
  • respond well to issues with early interventions to support your team.

This course is designed for managers and people leaders. It is particularly useful for those with teams of people working in potentially stressful environments and/or with challenging customer groups.

Conrad Wansbrough, Dr Megan Woods & Adam Nebbs (Safety Achievements Pty Ltd)

Conrad Wansbrough

Conrad Wansbrough is the founder of Safety Achievements and is dedicated to developing capable new generation leaders in Tasmania. A graduate of Griffith University’s Safety Leadership program, he blends expertise in modern safety methodologies with hands-on experience across diverse government and private sector industries. Known for his contemporary approach, Conrad applies his knowledge of business management, systems thinking, with new view safety to build sustainable teams.  He is all about helping leaders, managers and supervisors serve their team members with effective, care and curiosity-based practical tools and techniques.


Adam NebbsAdam Nebbs is a lived experience public health researcher at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, currently in the final stage of a PhD thesis. Adam previously worked as a frontline leader in the banking industry and combines his firsthand experience with the latest workplace mental health research. He focuses on identifying the most effective tools managers can use to create a mentally healthy workplaces. Adam enjoys helping people create more sustainable and systematic workplace mental health strategies for Tasmanian businesses.


Megan WodsDr. Megan Woods is a certified coach, consultant, and adjunct Senior Lecturer with a PhD in Management, specialising in workplace mental health and return to work. With 20+ years of experience in adult education. She has co-authored six management textbooks, with funding by the WorkCover Tasmania Board she has developed research-based resources for workers and managers in Tasmania to support safe return to work after mental ill-health. She also provides Mental Health First Aid and is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Mental Health Association.


All three facilitators are deeply passionate about empowering people. They create a dynamic, fun learning experience, ensuring participants leave feeling inspired, equipped, and ready to build strong, resilient teams.
