This activity-based course provides a comprehensive introduction to the procurement of goods and services, specific to the requirements of the Tasmanian Government procurement framework, including planning, selection and the contracting process.
An effective procurement strategy will ensure compliance with the framework and the procurement principles of ‘value for money’ and ‘open, impartial and effective competition for Tasmanian Government contracts’.
The course includes a mix of discussions, group activities and real-life scenarios to help you work through the procurement process, covering low risk to complex and high-risk goods and services procurement.

This course will teach you how to:
- Conduct basic procurement planning
- Undertake market research and assessment
- Determine the appropriate procurement process
- Develop the process and criteria for evaluating offers
- Request, receive and evaluate offers
- Award the contract.
Who should attend?
Anyone involved in the procurement of goods and services who are required to comply with the Tasmanian Government procurement framework, including the Treasurer's Instructions issued under section 51 of the Financial Management Act 2016 (Tas).

RenĂ© has over 30 years’ experience in procurement and contract management including designing and delivering procurement courses in the public and private sectors throughout Australia and the Pacific. He holds a number of tertiary qualifications in procurement and public procurement law, is a CIPS Fellow, teaches in the university sector and is highly regarded within the procurement profession.
