This is an activity-based course that provides a comprehensive introduction to the procurement of building and construction services, specific to the requirements of the Tasmanian Government procurement framework.
In a combination of theoretical and practical activities, it covers the steps leading up to the signing of the contract, including planning, evaluation and selection.
An effective procurement strategy will ensure compliance with the framework and the procurement principles including value for money and open, impartial and effective competition for Tasmanian Government contracts.
The course includes a mix of discussions, group activities and real-life scenarios to help you work through the procurement process.

- Conduct basic procurement planning
- Undertake a risk assessment
- Determine the appropriate procurement process
- Develop the process and criteria for evaluating offers
- Request, receive and evaluate offers
- Award the contract.

Anyone involved in building and construction procurement who is required to comply with the Tasmanian Government procurement framework, including the Treasurer's Instructions issued under section 51 of the Financial Management Act 2016 (Tas)

He holds a number of tertiary qualifications in procurement and public procurement law, is a CIPS Fellow, teaches in the university sector and is highly regarded within the procurement profession.
