Social media has become a popular communication channel and many public sector organisations are successfully using it to build reputation, brand awareness and community engagement. But the public sector also needs to be on top of technology trends and intentional in their use of social media - know what they want to achieve and how to do it well.

This new course is designed for anyone responsible for using social media in a government agency or who would like to find out more about social media and its use in a public sector environment. The one day course covers:

  • the digital divide and how 90% of digital disruption is yet to come
  • what a 'good use' of social media looks like for your organisation - including stating goals and audience
  • resources needed to successfully use social media as a communication channel for your organisation
  • identifying success measures and how they will be monitored
  • the likely outcome if social media is left in the 'too hard' basket.
